hard case storage in Rome Italy, October2011

We will be taking our road bikes to Italy in October and need to locate a place to store our hard case upon arrival in Rome at FOC airport. Long term storage is 9.00 us pr 24 hours. Looking for a storage for the month of October. Any ideas?

Some years ago we were in Rome at the end of a bike tour and stayed at Maurizio's bed and breakfast the night before going to the airport to fly home. He was amazingly helpful in getting our bikes prepared for the flight - he found us bike boxes, helped us box them, cooked us dinner and regaled us with stories of his bike tours around the world, and then drove us to the airport the next day. I think someone else is running his B&B now, but it's possible they would also be bike-friendly and give you a place to store your bike boxes. Here's the website: http://www.mauriziobeb.it/

Thank you, we will make contact today, We have planned to stay in Rome prior to our return to the US. We have decided to use a bike cardboard box with much bubble rap, and dispose of the box upon arrival,than locate a similar bike box prior to return or possibly sell our bikes in Italy? We will be taking our older Cannonadale aluminum down tube shifting 1980 vintage road bikes. We will be renting an apartment outside of Siena for a couple of weeks than a week on the Adriadic before going to Rome. Any suggestions appreciated,as this is our first trip out of the US. We have been using numerous Amazon travel books purchased and Netflex travel videos as our base of knowledge,along with internet.

Marcerllo, thank you for the offer! We have decided to dispose of the boxes upon arrival at FOC and have a bike rack for the rental car and will transfer the bikes to the rack. Will we have a issue with disposal of the bubble wrap and box at FOC? Also we have two cannondale aluminum 1980 vintage down tube shiffing shimano 105 triple road bikes,one bike is 52cm the other is a 54cm, one white, one a aqua blue with pink break/shift housing. We hope to sell the bikes in Italy at the end of our trip? in lieu of paying the airlines transfer luggage fees back to the US. Might you have any thoughts on this subject, disposal of carbboard/bubble wrap and of selling out bikes at the end of October,possibly at a bike shop? thank you vince call USA Michigan

don't worry about disposing of the boxes and the wrap: this is Italy, so you can just leave everything near the dumpster at FCO. Some hobo will be happy to have new cardboard...
As for selling the bikes, you can try Bbike (www.bbike.it): send them an e-mail and see if they want them.
