Hi,
I'm planning to cycle two months in Asia this winter and looking for (a) male/female companion(s) who are reasonably fit. I'm on a low budget and have cycling experience in Laos (one month two years ago) and travelled Asia before w/o a bike: India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
I'd like to leave in December or Januari. To get a cheap plane ticket I'll have to make my plans right now so if there is someone out there with similar travelling plans please contact me ASAP. I speak German, Dutch and English.
I favor these three countries but am open to other suggestions. For a low budget Bangkok is an ideal airport however.
Kind regards, Jörg.
Hi Jorg! I'll be headed to Vietnam to cycle Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos & Thailand into China for the spring. I plan to cycle along the Mekong river for most of the trip. If you think you'll be along any of that, I'd be happy to keep you company. I tend to cycle anywhere from 20-80 miles per day (40-140km) depending on if I run into fun things to do. I travel CHEAP.
Cheers,
Francesca
Hej Jorg and Francesca,
We ll be around there as well. Melanies sisters are coming to visit us in Vietnam, and they leave the 17th of January, so from that date on we will be cycling around there too. Maybe indeed we can cycle together for a part of the journey.
I think we have a bit of the same cycling rhythm as Fancesca, with 100km as maximum a day, stopping when there are fun things to do or to see along the way.
We don t follow this forum that closely, but if you could be in Vietnam at the time we are there, you can always send us a message or look at our blog where we are www.tetreintebootenopdefiets.blogspot.com

hi,
I will be cycling in China from november until I get tired of my bicycle...
I travel cheap because I never worked so all the money is from holiday jobs, the route is very flexible so if anyone has some advice on the nicest routes in china or anyone is up to travel with me. Please let me know.
I will start next week from Phnom Penh to Vietnam (from ho chi minh to hanoi) and then on to china.
I did cycling trips in europe where the average is about 120 km a day but here it's more of a 40 till 80 km a day since I can't travel that light and it is really warm!
so if anyone has some advice, I would love to hear from you.
I am travelling with a laptop so I'll be checking my e-mail quite a lot.
Cheers!
Toon
I am living in China, hope you guys can come to China after your planned trip if time permits. If you are in China, please feel free to contact me.
Take Care!

Hi Fancesca et al.,
I just booked a cheap flight to Bangkok on December 2nd and have to fly back on January 15th. So if you or Bart & Melanie (you aren't Dutch, are you??) are in the area, please contact me. I'm cycling right to the south coast from Bankok into Cambodia.
I'll be surfing in internet cafés every once in a while. I also have a netbook but won't take that with me. I'd love to have some companions. See ya, perhaps ...
Cheers, Jörg.
hey. I am in Sing Buri, thailand right now on my way to Chaing Mai. Any takers? On a tight budget, too. I have LOTS of time. My ticket out is April 25th
We are looking to do a short trip in SE Asia starting in mid April, also with limited budget (where does the money go?) Lets stay in touch and see if we can meet up or at least you might by then be able to recommend us a good route. Right now it seems hard to choose where to go when we'll only have 3 weeks. - Wendy
I arrive at the end of Jan and fly out of Ho Chi Minh at the end of March. Would this match up with you at all? Would be good to cycle with others for some of it at least.
Mari
Hi Mari,
I will fly back home by end of January. I hope you will find good company and have a nice trip.
Happy trails, Jörg.

Hey!
Thanks for writing. I may interested. I am in Chaing mai right now. I don't have too much of a plan . . .
Hi Jorg, really nice to meet you!
Your bike trip in asia sounds like a great plan! It is exactly what I was looking for: a travel companion for a bicycle trip in asia. More precisely south east asia. Was thinking to fly into vietnam with the bike and then ciclying around that area for a couple months. Starting mid november or so. Let's do it!
Looking forward to hear from you!

I just bought a ticket to Manila. I will arrive there on December 27. Then take a sleeper train to Naga and cycle to Legazpi and take a ferry from there to reach Banayan island where I will visit an old friend from Germany.
Good luck and happy trails always,
Jörg.
