This summer, I plan to do a loop around the upper half of Lake Michigan using the ferry at Ludington. While I'm going around the loop, from which direction will the winds be from for most of the time? How fast? Do you recommend going clockwise or counter-clockwise? Is Upstate Michigan known for summer thunderstorms? Anything else? I would prefer responses to my regular e-mail using [email protected]. Thanks!

One quick and easy source is the weatherunderground Web site , which includes a weather almanac on the left hand navigation pane about 1/3 of the way down the page. You can specify a place and a date or date range and see what things were like last year or for as many years as the date goes back to.
