Hello all,
Obviously the best way is to cycle, however i'm planning a week's tour and would like to maximise the great cycling parts and minimise the cycling through cities parts.
So, does anyone have any experience getting from Venice to Udine or Gorizia with bikes in boxes? Do any locals know of a 'man with a van' I could hire? Is getting a train a viable option or is it more likely we will be told we can't travel with the bikes?
Thanks in advance,
Jade

Hello,
by train taking regional trains only https://www.trenitalia.com/en/services/travelling_with_yourbike.html
When searching make sure there's the bike symbol next to the train you choose (in the same website click on info button for the train in the search results). You will need to buy a ticket for the bike (around 4 euro I think).
Of course airport to train station cycling, but looks it's not too far.
Enjoy!
I did this about 5 years ago (train Venice - Udine - Venzone) - no problems. I stayed Airbnb the 1st night and last night near Marco Polo airport and arranged to leave my Bikebox there. Then just cycled to Mestre station and caught the train to Venzone, changing first at Udine. Then cycled Zoncolan, Dolomites, Grossglockner (austria), Stelvio, Monte Grappa etc (2 weeks). Returned to Mestre from Bassano del Grappa by train (with bike). Found the details on the internet ok. I can check back if you think my particular details might help.
This is great, exactly the information i wanted, thanks guys!
