Any suggested routes to Canadian side of Lake Erie?

I am wanting to get to the Canadian side of Lake Erie (early/mid August), coming from Iowa, but do not want to ride through the Detroit metropolitan area. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Lake Erie: Ohio to Ontario

You may want to consider crossing Lake Erie by ferry from Sandusky,Ohio to Kingsville, Ontario.

The ferry schedule can be found at the following website:

Getting to Canadian-d\side of Lake Erie

As noted from Phil, catch a ferry at Sandusky, OH. You might want to check out the Adventure Cycling Association maps for their Northern Tier route (Indiana - New York) and their Lake Erie Connector maps for additional ideas and routes.

The ferry from Sandusky to

The ferry from Sandusky to Leamington/Kingsville is a good idea.
You can also do a wide loop around the Detroit Metro area and take the ferry from Marine City.
I will say that on our transcontinental that I was attacked by a dog just shortly outside of Leamington. It wasn't pretty.
Be aware that if you get too close to the lake, you will encounter some steep hills. In fact, the worst hill of our trip was in one of the small villages in Ontario
along Lake Erie. It was a shocker. We had expected a nice flat ride from Leamington to Niagara. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
(We basically did our own route, which I think is lower than the AC route.)

Leamington to Niagra Falls

Can you suggest a route to the Falls from Leamington that doesn't have the hills you mention?
