Call for Proposals
We have just released the Request For Proposals (RFP) for the development of an Android and iOS app, to provide easy access for our cyclists while touring and hosting. The application is open as of December 9th, 2019 and will close on December 20th, 2019.

2nd Annual Bike Touring Giveaway
Thanks to the membership for supporting the 2nd Annual Touring Bike Giveaway, we had a successful event and raised nearly $50,000 for Warmshowers. For the 2nd year in a row the winner hails from Europe, she is a active member and her name Eva Krumpalova. On May 23 of this year we will be deleting the old data on your profile that was included during the software upgrade last fall. If you have not yet filled in the new fields on your profile please do so by May 23 by editing your profile. The fields that will be deleted are:
Distance to nearest hotel/motel

The button to make a reservation was removed from the website today after much consideration. Ultimately, the technology behind the system was not working as hoped, and it was causing frustrations for the community, so the Board of Directors decided to remove it until a better system can be created/installed at some future time. Warmshowers.org has released a survey to help the Board of Directors in their creation of a long-term plan for Warmshowers. The survey can be found here: https://www.soscisurvey.de/warmshowers/
Please take the survey. I takes about 5 minutes and will greatly help us understand the direction the community wants to go. We need 4,000-5,000 responses if possible.

Website Project Concluded!
Thank you for your patience and support as we worked to upgrade the www.warmshowers.org website. We recognize the importance of continually evaluating the ways in which technology aligns with the needs of our hosts and riders. Our website was originally created by a dedicated group of volunteers to serve as a central information hub for the organization.

Website in Maintenance Mode- Final Time!
The Warmshowers.org website will be in "Maintenance Mode" for 2-3 hours on October 25th at 7AM MST. This should be the last time we need to do this, and the final step in the website improvement project. We greatly appreciate your patience and support as we work through this process.

Warmshowers Gear Store Closes Today! Order Now!
The Warmshowers Gear Store closes today! You can check it out and order your Warmshowers gear. Items in the store are sold without mark-up (meaning you purchase the item at our cost), there is an option to add a donation for Warmshowers if you like. This is a pre-order store. Store will close September 29th, 2017. All product will then be manufactured and shipped the first week of November.

Stories from the Road
Canada is the second largest country in the world by land area. Canada has been putting together an extensive system of bikeways creating a Trans Canada Bikeway knows as the Great Trail. 2 great options for crossing the wonderful country are traveling coast to coast, or cycling between Alaska and the lower 48 United States.
